Happy Birthday Isaac
Isaac turned 9 today and we had a fun birthday celebration at Smith Park. Jenna, with the talented help of Courtney Fox and Caleb Kidd made a really great football cake. We played some football and kick ball and Isaac open a couple of gifts. This was actually our second celebration as we let Isaac open some gifts last week when Matthew's family was in town.
I took a minute and measure Isaac, who is now just under 5" and also just under 100 pounds. I used an online growth calculator and it is predicting that he will top out at 6" 6", which is plenty tall.
Pack Saddle Springs 4-Wheeler Adventure
Grandpa Davis took us on afternoon and evening 4-wheeler trip to Pack Saddle Springs, which is above Green Canyon. We actually went clear to the top of the mountain, past several radio towers. The views were spectacular and we could see over into the Teton Valley and back west to Rexburg. Our tagalong was Tanner. We had a great picnic dinner provided by chef Grandpa Davis and the kids climbed an old-growth dead tree, calling it the Lord of the Rings tree. Descending from the top we took a side road and the kids explored a couple of abandoned cabins. On the way home we took the scenic route over the dry farms and saw several deer.

Huckleberry Excursion
Usually we are in the state of Washington the first 2 weeks of August, which sadly is prime huckleberry picking in Idaho. Well, good news this year because our northwest odyssey was shorter than usual so we were able to go huckleberry picking this year and boy did we find a hot spot. We left later in the afternoon but with our picking party we gathered more than one gallon. Now let's see how long we can make them last.
