CD's First Swim Meet

Christopher had his first swim meet, the Idaho Falls Mash Potato Dash. He swam for Madison Counties new team, the Wahoos. He swam the 50 meter freestyle, taking 2nd in his heat and first place for his age division. His time was 29.4 seconds, a personal best (see video of the race below). He also swam the 100 meter freestyle and took third place. He was kind of nervous, but after such positive results, he was happy with his first swim meet.

Airplane Ride over Rexburg

Thanks to our good friend Scott Sitton, we had a 24 minute plane ride over Rexburg and the surrounding areas, including R Mountain.  Christopher even got to fly the plane for several minutes.  Isaac got a bit air sick, but he hung in there like a trooper.  Here are a few pics and a video of the landing.

Grandpa Dorman's Wrecked Truck

We just returned from the hospital and grandpa Dorman is doing much better.  He has multiple cuts, bruises, and will have post concussion symptoms for a couple of months.  He should return home tomorrow.  We are posting a few pictures of his truck so others can see just how lucky he was to escape with no broken bones and more critical trauma.  He said that just before he got hit he was prompted to cover his face with his left hand and he looked down and saw a thick metal plate appear to the left of his legs.

As you view the wreckage, much of the damage to the door was because of the extraction equipment, compliments of Kevin Davis and the Rexburg Fire Department.

Rexburg Air Show

An annual Rexburg tradition in June is the Air Show, which brings in big crowds, well known stunt pilots, and a fun time for the kids.  Christopher was recovering from a trip to Lagoon, and Cindy was busy at home, so Dad, Isaac, and Emrie enjoyed the show together.  There was great variety, but we missed seeing one of the stunt planes and pilots because of a crash during rehearsal the the night before.  The accident was caught on video and miraculously the pilot escaped with only minor injuries.  Our uncle Todd was one the firemen and EMT's that responded to the accident scene.

Scout Camp to Darby Wind Caves

We took all of the young men on an overnight camp to the Darby Wind Caves.  The weather was perfect, but there was still to much snow to make it all of the way to the wind cave.  I took Issac along for moral support and a tent mate.  He had a great time.  Christopher is our true hiker even with a bum knee.  The highlight of the trip though was Dave Mann's (our true scouter and Varsity coach) dutch oven brownie, peanut  butter, and Reese's peanut butter cups cobbler.  All with homemade ice cream.
